4 implants are angled in each jaw, replacing a row of missing or failing teeth. The way in which the implants are angled means we do not need to use individual implants for every single tooth that requires replacement.
In the past, patients would have had to wait for months before they could have a set of teeth placed. However, this method of treatment allows for the immediate placement of a temporary set of false teeth right after your surgery is complete. It is also a cost-effective way of having an implant-based treatment that replaces all of your teeth.
Step 1: Consultation to discuss your treatment options and outline the steps involved.
Step 2: CBCT scans, photographs and X-rays are taken to assess your teeth, jaw, and soft tissues. We will present you with a treatment plan shortly after this appointment for you to approve prior to the next treatment step.
Step 3: On your surgery day, the implants are placed under local anaesthetic. Your jaw will take 3-9 months to heal and take on the implants as new tooth roots. Right after surgery, a set of temporary teeth are fitted.
Step 4: Digital Scans and/or impressions of the jaw are taken once your jaw has healed. You and your dentist will choose a shade for your new teeth. We will closely consider each tooth’s shape and size and how they sit amongst one another. Your permanent bridge is custom-created by the dental technician based on this.
Step 5: That’s it! You are ready to smile again!
All-on-4 implants are designed to be placed in areas of the jaw where jawbone density is abundant. This means they can last for 20+ years and (in many cases a lifetime).
Your bridge may need replacing every 10-20 years, depending on how well you look after your teeth. Your dentist will show you how to use your brush and floss carefully to clean around the implant sites.
No. All-on-4 teeth are screwed in securely. They do not rely on suction or neighbouring teeth to stay in position, so they feel much more like real teeth than regular bridges and dentures. Once your permanent teeth are placed, there will no longer be any foods that are off the menu! You will also have good articulation when you speak.
